Job Purpose (Job Summary)

Department Summary :

The Business Strategy & Development team is a fully integrated team of Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs) and Product Managers, created to support and service our investment capabilities across diversified channels and regions.

The team’s purpose is to maximize franchise value through best-in-class product positioning, leading as client advocates, and implementing business plans to drive organic growth, profitability, and asset retention.

Investment Capability Summary :

Invesco Fixed Income (IFI) manages $459 billion in assets as of December 31, 2023. The platform is organized to meet the diverse needs of our global client base with 182 investment professionals across 9 investment teams in 12 key markets.

Our clients are a mix of Retail Investors and Institutions.

Job Purpose

Invesco is seeking a Product Manager to support the firm’s Fixed Income investment capabilities. In this role, the Product Manager is responsible for providing key support with positioning a set of investment strategies, researching competitive landscape and product trends, and driving overall product management initiatives to support new business development efforts across institutional and retirement channels.

The role will include support for our Structured Investments platform, as well as other Invesco fixed income product lines and business channels.

The individual will work closely with the client portfolio managers, product managers, marketing, and portfolio teams, as well as other key business support functions, including acting as a liaison between the portfolio management team and both internal and external constituents on product-specific matters.

This individual should have an understanding of fixed income markets and concepts (preferably the asset management business, in particular), and must be regarded as a credible source of information and perspective for both fundamental and macro-economic factors affecting the asset class.

The Product Manager will have an intimate knowledge of the investment philosophy and process of each investment product supported.

This includes a detailed understanding of current investment themes within the portfolio, knowledge of portfolio holdings, risk attributes of the strategy, past and current positioning of the portfolio, near-term outlook for the strategy and performance attribution.

The Product Manager acts as client advocate and general manager within the business unit, ensuring products are delivering outcomes that match client expectations.

Strong communication and organizational skills are core requirements for the position.

Key Responsibilities / Duties :

  • Interacting effectively with Invesco’s internal teams
  • Support the team’s development and execution of the overall business strategy for its product line and represent investment teams to internal and external clients.
  • Manage and support month- and quarter-end product marketing update process
  • Effectively engage with portfolio managers and analysts to maintain and be able to communicate a detailed understanding of the investment process, product performance and the portfolio management team’s outlook and investment perspectives
  • Prepare client presentation and marketing materials
  • Liaise with sales force to ensure timeliness and high-quality standards for client meetings are met
  • Coordinate efforts between departments (i.e., marketing, legal / compliance, finance, operations)
  • Build and maintain knowledge of macroeconomic landscape and asset class trends to provide context to Invesco sales teams
  • Respond to internal client inquiries about investment products
  • Assist in answering RFP / RFI questionnaires

Business-related functions :

Work with market data research teams to gather and articulate competitive landscape and industry trends across all relevant distribution channels;

Be able to clearly articulate what differentiates our products from the competition

  • Recommend potential actions needed to improve our competitive positioning, enhance investment processes and drive franchise value
  • Develop and implement effective product marketing initiatives designed to build sales momentum and / or defend a critical investment franchise.
  • Monitor assets, including pipeline of opportunities and investment flows and report to investment and business leaders
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc research projects

Client-related interactions

  • Respond to client requests from both retail and institutional investors
  • Utilize risk and performance attribution data to help develop portfolio commentaries
  • Participate in thought leadership initiatives including whitepapers, blogs and other media
  • Provide Sales & Distribution with training, large conference and client meeting support

  • Strong PC skills. Proficiency with Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, eVestment, Morningstar, and Aladdin is preferred
  • Understanding of financial markets, investment concepts and processes
  • May be expected travel occasionally

Formal Education :

minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • 5+ years of investment experience, with a focus on research, writing, marketing, and data and content management processes
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or related discipline
  • Interest in the CFA program or in the pursuit of an MBA is preferred
  • Series 7 and 63 required within 6 months of employment
