Job Description :
The candidate will work to create and enforce a culture of safety within our organization and jointly implement programs, policies, and assessments to ensure Biomerics (and all of its employees) are in compliance with all federal and internal health and safety regulations.
They will represent Biomerics in any OSHA audit / visit, review reports and findings to monitor performance and detect trends related to health and safety.
The candidate will head up and run the company safety committee. The candidate should be familiar with the following regulatory programs such as PPE, Electrical Safety, Lockout / Tag out, Blood Borne Pathogen, Machine Guarding, Forklift, Hazard Communication and other programs as the need arises.
Roles and responsibilities include :
- Perform incident investigations and assist in corrective actions.
- Keep up to date OSHA 300 log
- Conduct job hazard analysis and recommend preventative / corrective action where EH&S hazards exist.
- Interact with all departments to assist with EH&S issues.
- Train employees on EH&S programs.
- Create standard operating procedures.
- Maintain EH&S records.
- Performs administrative duties for the EHS department including but not limited to general data entry and filing of training records, compliance documentation, and other EH&S records.
- Develop and support implementation of various safety policies and programs.
- Handle confidential information.
- Manage Hazardous Waste (WAA, profiles, and coordinate disposal)
- Initiate and maintain pertinent permits for hazardous materials
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional safety experience in the field as a Safety Professional.
- Knowledge of relevant workplace ergonomic requirements / strategies
- Ability to obtain required DOT certification for Waste handling and shipping.
- Be first aid / AED certified or become first aid certified in first 6 months
- Relevant EPA waste handling knowledge to handle small quantity generator status
- Basic math / statistical skills
- Working knowledge of Federal / State Regulatory Requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA).
- Working knowledge of chemical safety and hygiene.
- Must be proficient in use of Microsoft office suite.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and decision making skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal communication and time management skills.
- Ability to negotiate.
- IQMS knowledge (Preferred)
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 (Preferred)
- Mechanical Aptitude (Preferred)
