Role description :
Arcadis is seeking a Deputy Program Manager / Project Manager to support capital improvement programs for clients in Southern California.
Applicants must be experienced in, managing multidisciplinary project delivery teams with a successful track record providing planning, design engineering, and design services during construction for water and wastewater programs and projects.
The Deputy Program / Project Manager will assist clients with execution of programs and projects, addressing delivery challenges while overseeing implementation of program / project delivery procedures and processes and confirming the program teams performance against stated objectives.
The role will require regular client coordination and interface, providing day-to-day guidance to integrated multi-disciplined teams, preparing and presenting typical program and project management reports related to scheduling, cost controls, cashflow, risk management, change management, document control, interface management, engineering management, and other related documents and services.
Role accountabilities :
The Deputy Program / Project Manager will assist our senior program and project managers with ensuring completion of conceptual designs, scheduling and engaging subject matter expert teams for projects to prepare technical studies supporting planning and design efforts, regulatory and permitting support, construction management, operations & maintenance, start up and commissioning.
Other responsibilities include :
- Support leading with the development of the overall program strategy, tactics, and procedures, leveraging previous experience on water or wastewater treatment programs related to planning, condition assessment, rehabilitation, design, construction and operations.
- Assist senior program and project managers to address client directives and implement solutions resulting in effective oversight and coordination of programs and projects.
- Provide decision-making regarding project authorization, leveraging strong client listening skills; overall program management skills with the ability to clearly define problems, objectives, and scope.
- Organize and direct internal staff and external subcontractors in accordance with project priorities, guidelines, and contractual obligations.
- Support with managing program resources and making assignments based on a comprehensive understanding of all works requested by client as well as the skills and capabilities of Arcadis staff.
- Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
- Some travel will be required for project site visits and client meetings.
Qualifications & Experience :
Required Qualifications :
- 10 years of experience in the management of water / wastewater projects / programs, including 5 years of experience with the management of a team involved in the planning, design and / or construction of treatment facilities.
- BS Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering field.
- PE License in California or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Experience managing large wastewater treatment design projects or programs.
Key Skills / Attributes
- Knowledge of local, state and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques, procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledgeable and understanding of various design and construction contracting methods and processes.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey program and project delivery needs to all stakeholders.
- Strong technical understanding of water and wastewater utility infrastructure, and processes required.
