What you’ll tackle

  • Blueprint mastery : read prints, planning sheets, and sketches to map tooling, setup, and machining sequences.
  • Setup excellence : prepare tools; verify fixtures meet standards for diameters, depths, and angles.
  • Precision mounting : align and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces; load toolholders into the magazine.
  • Program retrieval : load control media (tape / card / disk) or pull preprogrammed instructions from the database.
  • Control tuning : set spindle position, feeds, speeds, depths of cut, and coolant flow.
  • Prove-out & edits : run prove-outs and perform manual programming during setups when approved by your Supervisor.
  • Run & monitor : keep an eye on displays; stop to change tools, adjust setups, and measure parts to blueprint.
  • On-the-fly fixes : enter commands or adjust controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; run manually if automation misbehaves.
  • Partner to solve : work with your Supervisor or programming team to resolve control media issues.
  • 5S & care : clean machines, tooling, and parts; complete required maintenance.
  • Safety first : follow policies and safety procedures; wear required PPE.
  • Lift others : help train new employees as needed.

    • What makes you successful

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 1+ year operating CNC lathes (or formal training).
  • Comfort following written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
  • Solid math : fractions, decimals, whole numbers, unit conversions.
  • Ability to read prints and operation sheets to plan setups and sequences.
  • Hands-on proficiency setting up / operating CNC machines and entering / updating data in the Traverse Manufacturing System.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
