Hours : 8 : 30am 4 : 30pm with 1 hour lunch

SUMMARY : The Commercial Lines Marketing Specialist functions as the agency’s internal insurance underwriter and as the direct communication point with our insurance carriers and their underwriters.

The Marketer communicates regularly with Producers and Account Executives, Account Managers, and insurance carrier underwriters regarding their assigned accounts (both new and renewal).

The Marketer is the Project Coordinator for their assigned accounts by managing the timely delivery of client information to insurance carriers, coordinating new and renewal insurance quotations from carriers, assessing and negotiating the terms and conditions of those quotations, and then conveying insurance program information to our client and our service team via a proposal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • The Marketing Specialist prepares, designs, and implements insurance programs for Commercial Insurance clients (both new and renewal).
  • Selects insurance carriers to approach for renewal and new business in conjunction with the marketing manager
  • Prepares list of information and supplemental applications for the Producer or Account Executive to gather
  • Submits client information and applications to carriers, follows up for quotes, and negotiates insurance terms and conditions with carrier underwriters
  • Compares renewal to expiring terms and conditions
  • Marketer must understand the insured’s operations and assess the insured’s exposures to loss
  • Suggest new coverage and alternative approaches to risk mitigation.
  • Determines insurance carrier placements with the assistance of marketing manager, Account Executive or Producer, and the assigned Account Manager
  • Prepare New Business and Renewal proposals
  • Issue binding instructions to selected carriers in standard agency format
  • Provide updated as-bound proposals to the service team so they can update data base accordingly
  • Review policies against the proposal presented to the insured and the expiring policies terms and conditions to ensure accuracy and any locate insurance carrier errors.
  • Assess the client’s insurance program for gaps or uncovered exposures.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

NYS P & C Brokers License Required. Minimum 3-5 years experience in Commercial P & C Insurance preferred. College Education preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, and outside bank personnel.

Communicate Orally.

Normal daily physical activities to include : walking, standing, sitting stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.

Must be able to read reports and use computer.
