Overview
This Payroll Analyst will join a team of payroll staff responsible for processing bi-weekly and ad hoc payrolls. Daily duties include processing the payroll, implementing audit procedures, developing, and running payroll reports and partnering with various business partners to provide exceptional customer service, while utilizing and maintaining sensitive and confidential data in an appropriate manner.
Major Responsibilities / Essential Functions -
- Responsible for accurate entry of payroll related data (timesheets, direct deposits, bonus payments, wage attachments, garnishments, SUI, etc.).
- Assist team members on standard payroll tasks including bi-weekly payroll processing, manual check issuance, calculation of retroactive adjustments, coordination of bonus payments, garnishment.
- Apply understanding of payroll federal, state, and local (city / county) laws / policies / regulations to ensure compliance.
- Support payroll taxation activities including quarterly payroll tax reporting and returns, implementing law / regulation updates, and responding to tax inquires and notifications.
- Assist with the maintenance of a wide variety of payroll information, files, and records in electronic format (and written, where appropriate) to provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Complete audit processes for various payroll functions including processing, tax reconciliation, and timekeeping.
- Participate in projects and initiatives to analyze, recommend, and implement new products, services, technology, and processes to improve payroll service delivery models and maintain high quality payroll procedures.
- Responsible for running payroll related reports using Human Capital Management (HCM) system report writing tool.
- Assist with data integrity maintenance in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
Minimum Qualifications -
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field, or four (4) years directly related experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of payroll processing experience.
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Excel including formulas (such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.), as well as data analysis functions.
- Experience with report development and testing within an HCM system.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State of Oregon and Washington payroll regulations.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations related to garnishments, child support, tax levies, FLSA and various labor laws at the federal, state, and local level.
- Maintains sensitive and confidential data appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications -
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) status is desired.
- Five (5) years of experience processing payroll in healthcare organization.
- Experience administering multi-state payroll is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with UKG / UltiPro is preferred.
- Experience with HR system implementation is desired.
