JOB SUMMARY : The Manager of Clinical Services position manages and supports the clinical functions of the organization including the policies, goals, and objectives established by the President / CEO and the Board of Directors.

Chief accountabilities of this position include management of all clinical processes related to referrals, authorization, donor management and allocation of organs.

In addition, this position will oversee all clinical staff for donation activities, development and staffing model. This position requires travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities.

This position will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information while strictly adhering to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance confidentiality policy.

WORK SCHEDULE : The Manager of Clinical Services position is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.

m., Monday through Friday with on-call requirement as needed. The employee may occasionally have to work evenings or weekends, as needed.

Assignments may require 24 plus hours of continuous service during periods of increased activity, in addition to inter-regional travel.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES :

  • Assists the Associate Director of Clinical Services and Sr. Director of Clinical Operations with managing the day-to-day clinical operations of the organization
  • Supervises the Organ Recovery Coordinators, Family Services Coordinators, Organ Placement Coordinators, Procurement and Inventory Coordinators, and Regional Supervisory personnel within their specific capacity as covered under the direction of clinical services.
  • Assists in managing the Center for Life (CFL) and serves as a liaison with University Hospital.
  • Assists with determining the need for policy development and clinical education based on performance and needs assessments for the Clinical Services staff.
  • Aids in the development, interpretation, and analysis of data relating to the nature and volume of clinical activity including but not limited to referrals, approaches, consent rates, donor potential, preservation, organ allocation, and clinical management of potential donor patients.
  • Evaluates donor cases and clinical management protocols and procedures and assures continued development of clinical management to increase organ availability.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Educator and Clinical Educator for training opportunities.
  • Accepts Administrator "on-call" responsibilities.
  • Works closely to the Medical Director with regard to clinical issues, policies, and operations.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Clinical Services and Sr. Director of Clinical Operations in the effective deployment of resources and management of staff for clinical functions.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director of Clinical Services and Sr. Director of Clinical Operations in assessing the function and operation of the clinical department and develops plan to facilitate the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Assists in the development of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols related to all clinical processes to ensure compliance with regulatory entities.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with the internal staff, tissue agencies, transplant centers, and the general public.
  • Provides management and guidance to all clinical staff in the referral process, donor management phase, allocation of organs, and donor recovery process.
  • Participates in internal and external audit processes.
  • Helps facilitate timely root cause analysis, CAPA and follow up of variances, complaints, and audit findings.
  • Maintains clinical audit schedule in QPulse in support of TOSA's Quality Plan
  • Document analysis of data and information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Clinical Quality and Corporate Educator to develop educational programs and training based on performance and needs assessments.
  • Chairs and / or participates in various teams, task forces and committees related to any of the job functions or duties above.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary process improvement meetings and initiatives with appropriate departmental staff.
  • Represents the organization and / or function at selected meetings or to selected organizations and presents reports and other information as needed.
  • Oversees the TOSA monthly on-call schedule.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Competent in ORC I, II, & III responsibilities
  • Demonstrates teamwork, clinical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills in a high stress environment.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • CPTC certification
  • FCCS certification
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment (computer / fax / copier).
  • A valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Possession of a reliable personal automobile.
  • A physical requirement for the ability to lift at least 50lbs.
  • Ability to travel by company or personal automobile, or commercial / charter aircraft.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all donor information.
