POSITION TITLE : Temporary Academic Interventionist / Resource Teacher
DEPARTMENT : Student Services
REPORTS TO : Assistant Principal for Student Services
STATUS : Full time / cover for maternity leave for 13 / 14 weeks beginning 11 / 1
QUALIFICATIONS :
Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated, reliable and dependable educator with demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Model professional behavior including adhering to and enforcing school rules and proper dress
Begin each class with prayer
Be present at all school assembles and school masses which includes a supervisory role
Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Serna and Student Services teams
Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and provide support as it relates to students’ needs
Flexible, independent self-starter who adapts to the needs our students
Strong technology skills
Expertise with academic and behavioral interventions
Ability to analyze student academic and behavior data for instructional purposes
Experience in working with adolescents and providing a positive and engaging classroom experience
Express good judgment and ability to build and maintain the confidentiality of employees, students and families with respect to all sensitive information
Ability to work with students and adults in a positive manner
Possess common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with difficult situations
Possess a philosophy of prevention and intervention through implementation of tiered support for students (MTSS)
Possess a solid working knowledge of the federal and state special education regulations
Ability to work effectively with a diverse school and community population
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Academic / Behavioral Intervention
Teach multiple periods including sections of the learning resource class, instructional / inclusion classes, and team teaching within the general classroom setting
Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) within the resource and instructional class settings
Provide academic intervention through REACH including individual, small group, or whole class support within a multi-tiered system of support
Provide academic support for students within concussion protocol and develop concussion plans in conjunction with the nurse
Monitor grades regularly of all students including the D / F list and eligibility lists in order to identify students in need of support
Work with the deans office to provide behavioral interventions
Substitute when needed including the Serna testing center
Case Management
Serve as case manager for ISP and 504 Plans for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors
Develop and implement students’ educational plans annually (ISP and 504)
Plan and facilitate annual ISP and 504 Meetings
Update and distribute current ISP and 504 paperwork annually to teachers and parents
Provide teachers with current classroom and testing accommodations information annually
Provide timely communication and collaboration with teachers, counselors, parents, and administration regarding students’ individual needs
Consultation
Provide consultation and professional development on needed topics to faculty / staff
Attend professional development workshops to keep current with educational best practice
Perform other duties / tasks as assigned
Attendance is required from 7 : 30 A.M. until 3 : 30 P. M. In addition, attendance is required at some evening and weekend events : Parent Orientation nights, Back to School Night, Open House, Parent Teacher Conferences, Street Scenes, Freshmen Welcome Night and Graduation.
Chaperoning at least one activity is required.
