The Digital Product Manager is a strategic role that works closely with leadership and the product team to create, enhance, and commercialize solutions in the elementary curriculum market.
This role will work with Capstone’s digital products and platforms such as PebbleGo, Capstone Interactive, and Capstone Connect.
The Digital Product Manager is responsible for product lifecycles and plays a critical role in helping leverage existing and new solutions for products.
This role is crucial in understanding the market and serving as a feedback liaison for stakeholders to continuously improve solutions.
This role requires a strong understanding of a variety of edtech tools used in elementary classrooms and the ability to articulate pedagogy and framework around teaching with technology.
This position will be expected to demonstrate performance in a manner that is consistent with Capstone’s Core Values and Competencies.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Management
- Use company strategy, market trends, competitive knowledge, and data analysis to guide research in identifying specific customer problems worth solving in our market focus and desired growth areas.
- Lead qualitative and quantitative research as well as product feature usage analysis to deeply understand users and inform product development.
- Synthesize quantitative and qualitative market insights to author product requirements and user stories.
- Collaborate with and influence a cross-functional team of project managers, designers, and software engineers to execute on that roadmap from design and specification to development, A / B testing, and release.
- Leverage educational and EdTech experience in a variety of ways, including : articulate user problems and offer feedback;
influence supplemental curriculum development and planning; and develop a large pool of educator relationships that can be accessed for product feedback.
- Communicate vision and progress against business objectives to a variety of stakeholders.
- Lead the ideation, development, and launch of digital product enhancements with a mindset of maximizing value to our customer / user.
- Prioritize among competing initiatives and clearly convey the justification behind decisions.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with product and company leadership to form the vision for digital products.
- Work cross-functionally with Customer Support, Content Development, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to drive product discovery, development, and launch for defined digital products and solutions.
- Leverage educational and edtech experience in a variety of ways including to articulate user problems and offer feedback, influence supplemental curriculum development and planning, and draw upon a large pool of educator relationships to reach out to for feedback.
- Collaborate with educators to have the opportunity to use Capstone products in co-teaching settings (online and in person) to build relationships and apply practical applications of our products within real-life settings.
- Create how-to videos, collateral, and presentations to showcase optimized use cases and applications of digital products to sales and educational users as part of go-to-market strategies.
- Inform market promotions, conduct training, and provide support documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Experience, and Skills desired :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Education Technology, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- 3-5 years of Saas Product Management, experience with Education Technology preferred.
- Direct Educator Experience with a strong education technology integration background is a strong plus.
- Educational publishing and ebook experience is a plus.
- Experience with education learning standards and working with learning management systems (such as Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, or similar) preferred.
- Well connected with educators from a variety of positions, backgrounds, locations, and ability to speak to educators and translate information from classroom to company-specific initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills including via teleconference (Zoom and similar) and by phone;
able and comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience with agile product development and feature validation.
- Experience utilizing data analytics and using BI tools.
- Ability to deal with a high level of ambiguity.
- Ability to communicate effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders.
- Intermediate skills with MS Office Suite, Atlassian Suite (e.g. Jira, Confluence) or similar programs needed.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to organize information through the use of cloud-based applications for ease of team collaboration.
Travel Requirements
Approximately 10-20% travel may be required in the future.
