Associate Technical Designer

We are constantly on a mission to add smart, innovative and fun-loving team members, and are looking for an Associate Technical Designer (Apparel) to come join our New York based headquarters.

The Role :

This key role will work directly with existing factories and be responsible for developing innovative concepts through commercialization and bulk production.

You will work closely with the design team to coordinate sampling timelines and new product launch calendars. This position requires an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and great work ethic as our work environment changes daily.

We are looking for a highly detailed, self-starting individual, with solid Technical and Managerial skills as well as Product experience in the apparel space.

Responsibilities :

• Collaborate with and support the Sr. Design Director and Technical Design team to establish product fit, size ranges, grading, and construction standards
• Execute design vision while achieving fit and construction standards
• Must have technical understanding of body, fit, flat specs, fabric / trim stretch and have ability to lead fittings, taking detailed and accurate notes
• Create and maintain detailed tech packs including detail sketches with construction / stitching, fit evaluation comments and specs, tolerances, grading
• Communicate with vendors on a daily basis, giving clear direction and instructions
• Measure and evaluate garments from proto sample through PPS
• Review and check balance of patterns
• Illustrate detail sketches and corrections using Adobe Illustrator as needed
• Maintain libraries of approved samples, construction, specs, block patterns, and style patterns
• Manage time and work flow
• Partner with Technical Design teammates, cross functional teams and vendors

Requirements :

• Bachelor's Degree in Pattern Making or Technical Design
• 3-5 years Technical Design Experience in one or more of : apparel, lounge wear, sleep wear
• Mens / Womens activewear, cut & sew knit experience a plus
• Knowledge of draping, patternmaking, construction, tailoring, sizing and grading, industry fit
• Working knowledge of Optitex and Browzwear (3D)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite
• Excellent analytical skills, detail oriented, highly organized, quick and timely
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to meet deadline demands

• Works well in a team environment
• Ability to be on-site in our HQ Office in Lower Manhattan 3 days per week
