Responsibilities

Frontend Development & Architecture

• Design and implement complex, user-centric features with high performance and responsiveness across various devices.
• Build and maintain reusable components and libraries for future use, ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.

UI / UX Implementation

• Work closely with our head of design to translate design wireframes and prototypes into high-quality code.
• Implement visually captivating and coherent user interfaces, maintaining consistency across all platforms and products.
• Develop and maintain style guides, design systems, and internal UI libraries.

Backend Integration

• Collaborate with backend engineers to design and implement API endpoints.
• Ensure seamless integration of frontend components with backend services, maintaining performance and security.

User Research & Discovery

• Collaborate with our head of design and product to gather and analyze user feedback and insights.
• Identify pain points and areas for improvement in current and future Surface experiences.
• Ensure user needs are well understood and communicated across the team.

Leadership, Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with product, design, and engineering in a fast-paced environment to ensure designs are technically feasible and address any implementation hurdles.
• Clearly present and explain development decisions to a diverse group of stakeholders, from team members to external partners.
• Cultivate a collaborative environment where respectful challenge and feedback are welcomed, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the team and the product.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

Stay current with the latest frontend development trends, tools, and technologies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in frontend development, with a strong emphasis on building high-quality user experiences.
• Expert proficiency in React and its ecosystem (e.g., State management, React Router, hooks, meta frameworks, etc).
• Proven track record of designing and implementing complex frontend features from ideation to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong experience with modern build tools and deployment systems (e.g., Vite, mono-repos, CI / CD pipelines).
• Comfortable with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Strong knowledge base in accessibility.
• Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on AI-powered user experiences.
• Familiarity with Chrome extension development is a significant plus.
• Passion for driving positive change in the residential multifamily property management industry.

Nice to haves

Experience with backend development in Python, including designing and implementing API endpoints when necessary.

Compensation, Benefits, and Location

We're well-funded by Bessemer and Stackpoint Ventures and offer competitive cash compensation in addition to equity, along with comprehensive benefits (including health, vision, and dental insurance, generous paid time off / sick leave, and a 401(k) plan).

While we have a preference for candidates based in Boston or Austin, we are open to applicants from other locations, as our primary goal is to find the best person for the role.
