Summary :
The Director of Compensation requires an understanding of human resources and healthcare operations. The position does allow for primary remote work for an individual within a commutable distance from Springfield, MA.
The director is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of compensation plans for all Baystate Health employees staff, providers and executives.
This includes creating policies related to salary, benefits, bonuses, etc., as well as managing the process by which these plans are implemented.
The director oversees also creates and keeps current all compensation plan documents and oversees a team that includes analysts, consultants and program managers.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of the Baystate Health compensation philosophy, policies, and procedures with transparency and less complexity as a goal
- Communicates with other human resources departments and team members, so they are able to explain compensation-related topics in a way that leaders, providers and employees can understand as to how the Baystate Health’s compensation system works
- Coordinates the implementation of all annual compensation programs such as annual base pay increases, COLA, incentive and variable compensation plans, executive compensation review and equity / market review and adjustments
- Reviewing salary data from external sources such as industry surveys to determine what salaries are appropriate for various positions within the company
- Oversees the updating and the consistent utilization of the Baystate Health external benchmarking database such as Pay Factors
- Evaluating and recommending annual pay increases, bonuses program, and BH Administrative Variable Compensation Plan as well as Provider Incentive Plans to retain and drive the performance of existing employees and recruit new team members to the enterprise
- Monitoring employee turnover rates and exit interview data to determine whether compensation and market position are influencing these key HR metrics
- Maintain an update to date working knowledge of laws and regulations regarding discrimination in compensation practices to ensure compliance with legal standards
- In collaboration with Director Employee Relations and Staff Attorney recommending changes to the BH compensation policies based on new laws or best practices

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related healthcare field required. A master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or HR is preferred
- Demonstrated programmatic systems experience with the current HRIS system (Workday) as well as implementation experience of HR applications.
- Past experience includes progressive advancement as a compensation analyst or compensation manager previously
- Experience should include physician and executive compensation in addition to exempt and non-exempt staff and leadership
- Additional applicable experience in human resources or as a financial analyst helpful
- Workday, Payfactors and Service Now experience a plus
- Ideal capabilities and competencies include a strong foundation in HR operations, technical expertise Excel
- Strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills to drive HR excellence and contribute to the overall success of Baystate Health
- Possess exceptional analytical skills to interpret HR data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Adept at solving complex HR problems, mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement in HR operations through innovative solutions

relevant experience and training; education / certifications / licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
