Seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Director of Business Development . The ideal candidate will play a key role in identifying and cultivating new business opportunities within the US region, contributing to the growth and expansion of our portfolio.
This is a growth role, as we are always looking for talented individuals to join our team and eventually become leaders.
This position will support the Chief Commercial Officer and team in developing go-to-market strategies, leading special projects, and supporting the overall Business Development team in general analysis of opportunities, preparation of proposals, and bringing opportunities to execution.
The Directorwill work closely with an experienced and successful Business Development team, with the intention to grow his or her skillset and network over time.
The role involves working across all business units, including marketing, finance and accounting, sales, and operations, to develop solutions that enable our strategic customers to meet their sustainability goals.
Experience with U.S. market analysis, project pricing, project modeling, reporting, proposal writing, and overall knowledge of the industrial project development life cycle is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Expansion and Growth :
- Lead preliminary and in-depth due diligence of acquisition targets, ultimately informing the decision to buy or pass with articulate, evidence-based input.
- Identify opportunities for market expansion and growth within the US region, including geographic expansion, new market segments, acquisition targets, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive business growth and achieve revenue targets.
- Manage relations with diverse stakeholders such as potential investors, Balcones' ownership group, vendors, potential strategic partners, and commercial and municipal customers.
- Work with legal advisors to negotiate contracts on behalf of Balcones.
- Market Research and Analysis :
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential business opportunities and markets.
- Analyze market data, industry reports, and competitor strategies to inform business development strategies and decision-making processes.
- Model opportunities for financial viability.
- Proposal Development and Presentation :
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized proposals and presentations tailored to the needs and requirements of prospective clients including but not limited to public entities.
- Present proposals to potential clients, effectively communicating the value proposition of our sustainable solutions and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Experience modeling opportunities is preferred.
- Prior experience in business development, finance, sales, or related fields is a plus.
- Knowledge of the waste industry, sustainability, and / or the recycling industry is a plus.
