This is a part-time, temporary position.

Job Summary : Core responsibilities of this position include :

The Campus Activities Programmer position for LCCC is a part-time, non-benefited, position that requires current enrollment as a LCCC student.

This position assists the Specialist for Student Engagement & Activities with organizing, planning, and executing campus events as well as campus cultural events.

Campus Activities Programmers (CAPs) will receive on-the-job training and are considered a programming ally for the campus, the student body, as well as student organizations who want to bring new ideas and activities to the LCCC campus.

CAPs are responsible for office hours within Student Life, a weekly staff meeting, and overseeing campus activities and events.

Students will also have an opportunity to engage with the campus cultural and international student community to bring programming to students in the hopes of inspiring cultural and diversity awareness.

CAPs will also engage in 1-2 community service projects per year to facilitate team bonding, a deeper understanding of culture and community to help shape programming ideas, and to help promote civic engagement.

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Compensation : $13.33 per hour.

Start Date : Fall / 2024.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions : this position is Non-Exempt, ., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.

  • Research, collaborate, plan, and implement events in accordance with program and college procedures and expectations
  • Attend and actively support the management and implementation of program events
  • Work with other students, departments, and the campus community in fielding ideas, planning, and executing program events
  • Maintain office hours in being a resource for students regarding program events
  • As assigned, attend staff, department, and college meetings / events
  • Assist team members through preparing materials, monitoring supply inventories and assisting the operational functions of the program / events
  • Interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately with students, the campus community, and general public
  • Support the department with special projects through completing tasks as assigned
  • Communicate and plan accordingly with the assigned supervisor to develop and establish a work schedule
  • Promptly communicate any changes to established schedules and seek advanced approval for known schedule conflicts or requests
  • Assist with data entry, maintenance of spreadsheets and creation of department flyers or communications
  • Notify and elevate concerns to the appropriate supervisor regarding any issues, barriers, or concerns regarding task completion, customer concerns, or the general work environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge and ability with personal computing applications specifically Microsoft Office Suite (., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (.

Reader, Professional), as well as database management systems

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality standards
  • Knowledge of event planning practices, communication, and advertisement
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with area supervisor to resolve work and college course scheduling conflicts
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (., a flow chart of a process)
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate clearly with a variety of people, in one-to-one and small group settings either face-to-face, by telephone, or by other electronic means
  • Ability to communicate in an informative manner and effectively listen
  • Ability to support time-based requests; able to function effectively in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment with deadlines and frequent interruptions
  • Ability to respond to basic inquiries from faculty, staff, or other students
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment including computer, copier, fax machine, and telephone

Physical / Mental Demands :

To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to :

Maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data;

documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors

Ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position;

there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required

  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Occurrences of interacting with employees and / or students, past employees and / or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • Frequently required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.
  • Multiple / daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and / or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds

Qualifications

Minimum :

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Current LCCC student and continued enrollment in a minimum of 6 credits a semester, (exceptions may be given for summer term with supervisor approval)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes bases on semester events
  • Ability to work with diverse topics and cultures with an open mind

Preferred :

  • One year of experience in an office setting working with Microsoft Office Software. (Excel, Word,
