Location : Hiawatha, IA | On-site with frequent travel to client locations

About the Role

Forefront Construction Group is seeking a motivated and capable Senior Cabling & Security Technician to join and lead our growing low-voltage installation team. You'll play a key role in a growing division with strong demand and opportunities for advancement into team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, test, label, and dress Cat5e copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Mount and install backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, and hardware
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures and cable sleeve installations
  • Cable and organize server racks, including network switches, routers, and PDUs
  • Install, mount, and align PoE security cameras (Hikvision) and connect to Luxriot NVR systems
  • Follow all client procedures, including jobsite health & safety and security compliance
  • Interpret blueprints and technical documents for accurate installation
  • Travel to customer sites and work independently or with team support

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage, or telecommunications
  • Skilled with hand and power tools for fieldwork
  • Comfortable reading blueprints and handling physical installation from start to finish
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds (occasionally up to 110 with safe lifting practices)
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces, and in both indoor / outdoor environments
  • Able to distinguish wire colors and detect audio signals (e.g., tones, ringers)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and desire to learn advanced splicing or diagnostic tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and professional demeanor on job sites

    • Bonus Experience (Not Required)

  • Fiber cleaning, splicing, OTDR or power meter diagnostics
  • Prior work with Hikvision, Luxriot, or other IP surveillance systems
  • OSHA 10 / 30, BICSI, or manufacturer certifications
  • Experience installing server / network infrastructure
