Jill’s House is a Christian non-profit organization and auxiliary ministry of McLean Bible Church that loves and serves families raising children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 6-22) with intellectual disabilities through short-term overnight respite care and holistic family support services.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Local Program Manager (LPM) to join our team as the local representative and advance the mission of Jill’s House in the Dallas area through weekend camps with incredible campers that have intellectual disabilities.

While a camper’s diagnosis might keep them from a typical camp experience, the LPM leads Weekend Adventures just for them.

From archery to zipline, talent shows, and s’mores, Jill’s House campers get it all! While campers enjoy a weekend full of activities, their families get time for rest, renewal, and relationships.

The rhythm of respite is vital to our families, so camp runs year-round.

We are excited to launch Jill’s House in the Dallas area. Joining five national program locations in Tennessee, Virginia, New Jersey, Illinois / Wisconsin and Washington.

This position will build from an existing framework, allowing the LPM to add local expertise. The ideal candidate will bring experience or interest in creating a new program with the support of the Director of National Programs.

Role and Responsibilities

Program Management :

  • Recruits, onboards, schedules, and trains new staff and volunteers.
  • Manages communication with staff, families, partner camp, community partners, and volunteers.
  • Guides families through the intake process, including completing paperwork, phone calls, a meet and greet, and parent communication.
  • Oversees case management of annual updates for camper documentation including Individualized Service Plans, Behavior Plans, medical documentation, and more.
  • Manages fiscal budget.
  • Resolves situational conflict with staff, families, or volunteers professionally.
  • Engages and collaborates with the community by building partnerships with churches, non-profits, and local services to advance the mission of Jill’s House.
  • Provides Family Support to the local families through care packages, parent dinners, and parent resources.
  • Collaborates with teammates, Nurse Manager, Director of National Programs, and other departments on site at Jill’s House to ensure success and enhanced communication.

Camp : The Local Program Manager is at each camp all weekend from Friday to Sunday and :

  • Plans and executes the 4-6 weekend camps per year.
  • Tracks and updates camper documentation and ensures all needed paperwork for staff, volunteers, and campers is prepped.
  • Schedules all campers, staff, and volunteers for each weekend camp.
  • Fosters relationship and communicates with partner camp prior to and while at camp.
  • Manages staff, volunteers, campers, and the weekend schedule leading the weekend and ensuring a positive camp experience and safety.
  • Assists with activities of daily living (i.e., toileting, showering, feeding, brushing teeth, etc.)
  • Deescalates behavioral episodes of campers calmly and professionally per campers Behavior Intervention Plan.
  • Upholds Jill’s House policies and procedures.

Knowledge and Skills

  • At least two years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in remote environment, managing self-paced tasks. Candidate should demonstrate strong self-discipline, excellent time management skills, and the ability to maintain high productivity levels while effectively prioritizing tasks to meet objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Available to work Friday-Sunday during camp weekends.
  • Strong supervisory skills, leadership experience, calm in high stress environment, and ability to manage emergency situations.
  • Clinical skills to deescalate behaviors and ability to develop creative plans to better serve campers.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds.
  • Ability to quickly pursue a camper if elopement occurs.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from required work locations.
  • Vibrant faith and passion for serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, God, and others.
  • Must affirm the McLean Bible Church Vision and Values and Standards of Christian Conduct statements.
