What We Offer
This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.
The pay rate for this position $21.72. On call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
Location
In this position you can expect to work on site at one or multiple Recreation Centers through the city of Denver.
What You’ll Do
Denver Parks and Recreation's Fitness division serves all fitness levels through a variety of services led by more than 100 fitness professionals.
Services include over 200 group fitness classes offered citywide, as well as specialized programs such as Boot Camps, personal training, youth fitness and personalized nutrition programs to promote wellness for Denver citizens.

Certified Personal Trainers provide one-on-one instruction in fitness programming, demonstrating proper techniques and methods for participants, and ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching fitness environment.

Specifically, as a Certified Personal Trainer you will :
Develop exercise programs designed for a variety of levels and lead clients through workouts in individual, small group, and / or large group settings
Demonstrate appropriate modifications of exercises and assist clients in setting attainable goals
Perform consultations and fitness assessments on clients and potential clients
Provide professional, safe, and effective demonstrations while offering ongoing motivation and feedback to clients
Create enthusiastic and energetic workout environments while providing specific emphasis on safety and proper execution of movements
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of cardiovascular and resistance training instruction, flexibility training, functional training, safety / spotting, fitness testing, and general nutrition
Meet the outstanding customer service standards of Denver Parks and Recreation
Keep current on all certifications and industry practices
Keep a schedule of times to train participants in the mornings, evenings, and / or weekends
Show a willingness to answer questions and utilize positive conflict resolution skills
Maintain a clean and safe orderly work area
Keep all client forms and files up to date and comply with employee procedures and expectations as detailed in the employee manual
Assist in recruitment, retention, program marketing, and special events
About You
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Certified Personal Trainer who can provide engaging programming, with an eye for safety and fun!
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics :
Current NCCA nationally accredited Personal Training certification (such as but not but not limited to : NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or AFAA)
Industry related degree (not required) combined with nationally accredited certification
Previous Personal Training experience in an organized fitness establishment is a plus but not required
Current CPR / First Aid Certification
Willingness and ability to teach strength-based group fitness classes
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement : Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience Requirement : None
Education / Experience Equivalency : One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement
Licensure / Certification : Certification as an instructor and / or trainer in yoga, step aerobics, kick boxing, boot camp, hip-hop, interval training, sports performance, strength training, Pilates, Zumba, indoor cycling, core conditioning or any fitness area by a nationally recognized organization.
Requires certification in CPR / First Aid at the time of application or within six months hire date. Licensure and certification must be kept current as a condition of employment
