Job Summary
Position provides sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas.
Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & residence halls, maintenance and repair work of painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair / installation, and light electrical.
Position requires the ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment as well as independently when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs multi-family housing & make ready duties including : sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and install), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, counter tops, flooring repair including (vinyl tile & plank), wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair).
- Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects.
- Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing.
- Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.
- Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and / or closures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Drives a UTA vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and / or repair work.
- Requires a Texas class C driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two plus (2+) years of experience in preforming a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction.
- Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
