The Role :

The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

Join our collaborative and enthusiastic Timing Applications Engineering team as a Staff Hardware Applications Engineer. Our timing applications engineering team is laser focused on solving our customer’s technically challenging timing and clock synchronization needs utilizing our broad portfolio of timing products.

Our timing product portfolio consists of clock generation, buffering, jitter-attenuation, and network synchronization devices covering a wide performance spectrum.

We strive to thoroughly understand our customer’s use-cases, applications, and requirements to present the best possible timing solution to the customer.

In this role you will work closely with both world-wide customers and internal teams in marketing, systems, design, quality, and product test to ensure our products, and their competitive advantages, are well understood and being successfully designed-in to our customer’s end products and system applications.

Job Description

Our customer’s products typically require high performance clocking solutions critical to their product’s success. We are looking for individuals with superior technical competence and communication skills who are good at identifying and solving technical challenges, and then communicating best-in-class solutions to a wide range of customers.

Therefore, candidates for this position will need to have both relevant industry experience and direct technical knowledge in the following key areas :

  • Signal analysis & measurement in both time and frequency domains.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of PLLs, filters, and oscillators.
  • Broadband transmission line signal integrity and termination techniques.
  • Authorship of technical document(s) such as white papers, data sheets, technical briefs, technical standards, compliance reports, or application notes.
  • Comfortable becoming the technical go to person on specific product segments.

Key Areas of Contributions in this Role :

  • Become the technical expert on focused segments of our Timing product line within our overall Applications Engineering team.
  • Provide direct technical assistance to customers regarding product usage, features, applications, trade-offs, and benefits.
  • Assist sales & marketing teams by providing technical expertise in both a pre and post sales capacity to help drive product design wins and direction of future products.
  • Design, debug, and document product evaluation boards and / or other support boards.
  • Develop new product launch collateral such as datasheets, technical reference manuals, application notes, compliance test reports and related documents.
  • Validate device use case scenarios ensuring device related hardware, firmware, and our ClockBuilderTM Pro software meets expected functionality and performance.
  • Occasionally provide focused technical presentations / training to other in-house product teams.

Education and Experience

  • BS / MS in electrical, computer or systems engineering with 8+ years’ industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and methodologies, logical thinking.
  • Experience in signals, systems, and design of analog & digital circuits.
  • System analysis skills, ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Experience with troubleshooting circuits and systems.
  • Proficiency in lab instrument use, debugging techniques, and documenting lab results.
  • Strong customer interface and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of S / W programming & tools (Visual Studio, C# or VB, Python, etc.)
  • Driven to meet deadlines while being held accountable to high quality standards.
  • Positive attitude with strong desire for customer and team success to maintain our winning culture.
