Company Description

The Sales Controller is the lead financial position for US based Vulcan Sales & Marketing Division, part of the Global Cooking Platform within the ITW Food Equipment Group, a division of Illinois Tool Works, Inc.

Reporting functionally to the Platform Controller of Global Cooking and North American Sales, this position provides leadership to all aspects of the business.

Working with the VP / GM Cooking North America and the North American sales leadership, the position supports the sales functions with the development of reporting and analytics as well as is responsible for keeping accurate financial records.

The Sales Controller provides functional leadership for all finance employees in all aspects of accounting, financial planning and analysis, asset management, capital expenditures and an effective control infrastructure.

Job Description

The Sales Controller will be responsible for over-seeing all division-level financial planning and business analysis activities.

This role will be responsible for collaborating with the business teams to provide effective controls and reporting.

  • Responsible for the balance sheet and income statement as well as all reporting.
  • Provide thorough, thoughtful, and logical financial analysis regarding internal and external sales, rebate and commission programs along with clearly communicating results and conclusions.
  • Prepare Long-Range Plan, Annual Plan and provide all related financial schedules.
  • Be responsible for maintaining accurate financial statements and accurately explaining variances. Provide timely internal financial statements to the leadership team.
  • Embrace, understand and champion the application of 80 / 20 business process to significantly improve operating performance.
  • Establish a strong message related to ITW values, safety, business ethics and the law, and financial controls.
  • Supervise the General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Credit and Collections and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ITW Financial Policies and be responsible for internal and external audits.
  • Actively participate in establishing / maintaining inventory controls. Ensure that key processes have safeguards established to maintain transactional and reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain separate financial statements for supplied product from intercompany partners
  • Assist with overall leadership of Louisville office, including some responsibilities for office and facility management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting or finance experience and a minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Undergraduate degree required (accounting or finance)
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Hands on manager.
  • Strong track record of driving financial improvements.
  • A strategic thinker who simplifies strategy into business objectives / actions and drives them with clear metrics and accountability.
  • Has capacity to sift through complex information and ability to focus the organization on the critical few priorities. Communicates messages clearly and concisely.
  • Well-rounded, individual with the ability to combine analytical reasoning, creativity and judgment. A results-oriented, prudent risk-taker that ensures economic value is paramount in decision making.
  • Challenges the status quo and drives positive change using a data driven and fact-based approach to decision making.
