Position Summary :

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Operations Manager - Facilities Decision Support (Real Estate Development + Facilities).

The Operations Manager - Facilities Decision Support will be responsible for developing and maintaining QA / QC operations for medical equipment, as well as managing tracking and utilization of medical assets in accordance with established procedures.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Develop and manage policies, procedures, and performance metrics to streamline medical asset management and tracking operations, ensuring operational standards are achieved and accurately communicated with leadership and other departments.
  • Lead assessment of business requirements, and develop and document the functional needs, technical specifications for RFID / RTLS asset tracking systems.
  • Oversee and manage asset tracking systems to provide precise and real-time tracking information on medical equipment locations, enhancing operational efficiency and patient care.
  • Design and maintain workflow processes for monitoring the condition and maintenance needs of medical equipment using RFID / RTLS-enabled asset tags, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and reducing equipment downtime.
  • Develop and implement integration of asset tracking data with existing medical equipment management systems in support of dynamic PAR Levels management, enabling accurate and real-time inventory levels which support decision-making and financial planning, and facilitating preventative maintenance by alerting technicians to the location and timing for servicing medical equipment.
  • Work with other departments to develop and implement security protocols utilizing asset tracking technology to prevent unauthorized access to or removal of medical equipment, enhancing the security of valuable assets.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments, vendors and suppliers to ensure all new medical equipment comes pre-tagged with RFID / RTLS, streamlining the process of integrating new assets into the existing tracking system.
  • Leverage RFID / RTLS data analytics to assess the utilization rates of medical equipment, identifying opportunities for optimization and cost savings through better asset allocation.
  • Explore and implement innovative processes based on asset tracking technology for improved safety and workflow optimization.
  • Develop a comprehensive training program for all relevant staff on the use of asset tracking technology in tracking and managing medical assets.
  • Conduct periodic audits to validate the accuracy of the medical equipment inventory, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the establishment of continuous quality improvement programs at both the departmental and hospital levels. Conduct analysis and execution of process flow enhancements, ensuring ongoing enhancement of both process efficiency and service quality.
  • Evaluate tasks completed by internal staff and develop corrective measures as required. Participate in regular and specific meetings, including those of the Safety Committee and New Equipment Acquisition Committee if applicable.
  • Collaborate with clinical engineering and hospital operations to establish and maintain the standards of business processes in order to drive workflow consistency, optimize clinical operations and mitigate operational risks.
  • Design reports and dashboards that can track operational metrics and provide actionable insights for medical asset utilization and maintenance.
  • Support strategic departmental planning and project management for both short-term tasks and long-term initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain the RACI matrix between clinical engineering and IT to support, maintain, and troubleshoot Epic-Integrated medical devices.
  • Lead identification, design and selection of new healthcare technology platforms and support medical device interoperability.
  • Develop and maintain system workflow and configuration and routinely monitor data flows through medical devices.
  • Develop risk assessments and ensure medical devices have required security controls to collect, store, and transmit the data consistent with organizational policy.
  • Remain up to date on new technologies and trends in the healthcare technology industry.
  • Log and track problems and work tickets with external vendor support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical engineering, biomedical engineering, biomedical technology, biomedical equipment management, information system, business management or related field
  • 5 year's work experience in healthcare industry or a relevant setting
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology management systems
  • Solid working knowledge of medical system integration
  • Must be organized, detailed-orientated, dependable and flexible
  • Have excellent oral / written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding design and implementation
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects as business needs change
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Preferred Qualifications :

1-3 years of experience managing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) / Real-time Location System (RTLS)

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements.

The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $112,951.35 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.

The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
