Responsibilities
The Data Science Intern will assist in a number of projects. Assignments may include work such as :
- ML Model Development and Enhancement This includes identifying optimal model methodology, evaluation criteria and hyperparameter tuning.
- Feature Engineering Create meaningful features with data assets to improve production ML models.
- Data Source Exploration Explore disparate data sources to assess their value and usability in analytics solutions.
- Ad Hoc analysis Dive into solving business problems partnering with stakeholders in the organization.
- Data Visualization Create insightful dashboards and charts to aid in storytelling with business partners.
- Use Python, R and SQL to analyze and extract insights that will enhance decision making capabilities.
Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related field with a graduation date in 2026
- Curiosity to ask the why behind things, and creative problem solving to figure it out
- Experience in Python (Pandas, scikit-learn, Pyspark, plotly) , R (tidyverse, ggplot) and SQL
- Proficiency in reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI or Tableau
- Demonstrated understanding of Statistical Modeling or Machine Learning concepts and the ability to develop predictive models
- Ability to work independently and in teams and bring joy while doing so
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information and use discretion within and outside of the organization
- We are unable to proceed with candidates who require visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience
- Demonstrated interest in or prior experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or Hadoop
- Interest in the consumer packaged goods / manufacturing industry with the desire to start a career with Post Consumer Brands after graduation
