Function : The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a central member of the Community Food Bank's (CFB's) Executive Leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The CFO position calls for competencies in non-profit finance related to analysis, forecasting, operations, governance, and organizational effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for earning leadership trust and confidence, building productive relationships with the CEO, executive leadership and program leadership teams, the Board of Directors and other key volunteer leaders, and key external stakeholders as well as staff throughout the organization.
As a key leadership team member, the CFO will model a collaborative management style and be a champion of cross-organization cooperation.
The candidate will bring new insights into working with potential strategic partners and organizational investors, ideally in the areas of new strategic focus for the CFB (e.
g., healthcare; regional and national funder / financing opportunities; innovative financing and capital structure; etc.).
Works closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other organizational leaders to develop recommendations regarding optimizing the double bottom-line (mission-impact and financial sustainability & scalability) of the CFB's programmatic (products & services) portfolio.
In partnership with the CEO and the Chief Development Officer (CDO), VP of Strategic Initiatives (VP), or designees, the CFO will further aim to diversify and optimize the CFB's capital, financing, and revenue sources.
- Leads an ongoing comprehensive review of operational efficiency and is responsible for continuous improvement of accounting and other critical data systems (including collaborative modifications with the CFB's inventory management system), which will allow for standardized policies, procedures, and value-added reporting formats across all CFB programs and sites.
- Provides a high-level perspective over CFB's finances to guide organizational priorities and decision-making, ensuring the sound use and management of organizational finance (including programs and sites).
S / he leads the accounting team, instilling a client-service approach to providing support to staff, which will maximize the organization's impact on behalf of donors, investors, partners, and the community.
In addition, the CFO leads the Quality Control Analyst to ensure the accuracy of our inventory and effectiveness of our inventory policies and procedures.
The CFO also oversees treasury, financial analysis & business modeling, cash flow forecasting for optimal liquidity, and risk management practices, as well as ensuring the production of timely, thorough, and useful interim and audited financial statements, tax returns, and regulatory and Feeding America policy compliance at the organizational and programmatic & site levels.
Contributes to developing effective organizational performance metrics, setting goals, and reviewing performance, with a preference for experience developing and utilizing performance analytics, dashboards, and infographics.
The CFO will also focus on staff development and building a collaborative work environment that inspires confidence, innovation, advancement, and thoughtful contributions among all accounting team members.
Works closely with staff to create and manage budgets, both operating and capital, and projections and develop long-range forecasts and operating plans linked to the organization's strategic plan.
Thinking ahead about emerging economic conditions, the CFO evaluates multiple forecasting scenarios and the potential risk and impact on the CFB's overall business model.
- Works with the senior leadership team, committees, and the Board of Directors to meet their financial reporting needs. S / he provides regular communication to the Board, staff, professional advisors, and other key stakeholders (both external and internal) regarding financial performance.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Minimum Qualifications :
- Ten (10) + years of progressive, senior-level experience in financial management for a non-profit organization.
- Ten (10) + years of progressing leadership experience.
- Five (5) - Seven (7) years of experience and demonstrated record of leading teams, managing people, development, delegation, and coaching.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
- Arizona Driver's License and clean three (3) year driving record.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's or professional degree / higher education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in a nonprofit organization at staff or Board levels.
- Experience in organizational development / management.
- Experience in diverse industries, including networked organizations with multiple operating units and a diverse ecosystem of alliances and partnering organizations.
- Demonstrated experience working with and / or serving on a nonprofit Board of Directors.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
