This role is eligible to participate in Zenith’s hybrid work schedule which provides the flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership.
Selected candidate must be able to report into the East Norriton, PA office on a weekly basis.
Oversees the operations, processes and workflow of an underwriting team. Team may include professional employees and / or support staff.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Conducts annual performance reviews on staff.
- Participates in hiring decisions, coaching, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Provides on-going performance feedback to direct reports.
- In consultation with the underwriting manager addresses performance management issues timely and appropriately.
- Uses file reviews to ensure underwriting guidelines and authorities are followed and quality standards are met.
- Assists manager in selecting highly qualified new hires for open department positions.
- Conducts regularly scheduled meetings to discuss team results and recognize employees; maintains open communication within the team.
- Assigns staff to special projects or task forces for development.
- Provides appropriate supervision, coaching, and mentoring to assigned staff.
- Creates an environment within the team that fosters creativity, innovation, teamwork, engagement, and growth.
- Works very closely with others in the department and branch to promote teamwork.
- Manages peak workloads, develops strategies on how to handle volume in a timely manner.
- Achieves planned results through decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
- Will recommend or make decisions regarding existing or new programs that have a significant impact on operations and carry potential consequences if unsuccessful.
- Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum of five years of related work experience required.
- Demonstrates leadership in current position. Is a visible leader.
- Strong oral and written communications skills used to explain, teach, and document.
- Strong reading and math skills.
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation policy rules.
- PC literacy required.
- Data analysis skill to determine workloads and strategies for peak periods
- Strong presentation and listening skills.
- Strong in data analysis.
- Proficient in Zenith’s underwriting philosophy and standard industry procedure.
- Driver License in good standing.

The expected salary range for this position is $119,813.96 to $164,744.20. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
