Position Description
DEFINITION :
To provide classroom and / or online instruction to students using multiple teaching strategies and perform accurate assessment of student learning.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED :
- Receives general supervision from Department Chair, Science
- Exercises no supervision
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Essential Functions :
- Prepare and execute lessons, lectures, activities, and exercises for seated and / or online settings.
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance. Grade and record individual scores.
- Grade and return assignments and post grades in a prompt manner.
- Provide prompt and appropriate professional correspondence to students and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance. Maintain other records as required.
Other Important Functions :
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge of :
- Teaching techniques and procedures, including techniques using the internet and technology.
- Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
- Principles of test development and administration.
Ability To :
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Communicate concisely and respectfully, both orally and in writing
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for : Making observationsReading and writingCommunicating with othersOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following : Standing or sitting for extended periods of timeOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneouslyBending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds

Supplemental Information
Minimum Education / Training :
A Master’s degree in biology or 18 graduate hours in biology
