Position Overview :
The EEG Technologist performs basic and complex EEG recordings (cortical, peripheral nerve, auditory nerve and visual pathway neurophysiologic information) in accordance with physician or licensed independent practitioner (LIP) orders and under minimum supervision.
Reports significant patient abnormalities observed or in diagnostic data to the appropriate e physician or LIP. The EEG Technologist is responsible for obtaining standard, as well as special procedure EEG recordings, is able to monitor additional physiologic phenomena by mean of appropriate techniques and instrumentation, and may adapt recordings performed based upon the patient's relevant medical history and observations during recording.
Provides orientation and training, and may participate in obtaining data for clinical research studies.

OR Other : Certificate in EEG or equivalent education / experience
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN :
Minimum six (6) months experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on adults.
Minimum one (1) year experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on neonates
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of human anatomy with emphasis on neuroanatomy, physiology, physics and medical electronics is essential in providing the basis for monitoring EEG's and recognizing pathology related to neurological data.
Must have the ability to distinguish abnormalities on the recordings.
Must have a strong understanding of recording sites and recording montages to help localize various abnormalities.
Understanding of basic related pharmacology, especially anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications.
In-depth understanding of medical terminology.
Demonstrates the ability to operate digital electroencephalographic and evoked potential equipment.
Must be able to test patients of all ages, including pediatric patients.
Must be knowledgeable in the use of analog and digital equipment in the neurodiagnostic laboratory. Good understanding of computers is essential for the use of digital monitoring equipment and trouble shooting computer malfunction.

Pay Range is $37.07 to $43.09 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
