The Melitta Schachner lab is accepting applications for a Research Associate position that is available immediately at Rutgers University (New Brunswick) in the W.
M. Keck Center of Collaborative Neuroscience. Highly motivated individuals with a strong background in neuroscience, cell biology, and / or a related discipline are strongly encouraged apply.
Successful applicants will lead a small team, under the direction of the principal investigator, to investigate mouse models of neuropsychiatric disease.
The primary focus will be genes and signaling pathways that are important for brain development and function.
Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in neurobiology, cell / molecular biology, or a related field with one or more first author publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
The candidate must have effective communication skills and be highly motivated, self-driven, creative, and interactive, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
A proven track record with mouse genetics, rodent stereotaxic brain injections, and / or neuronal labeling techniques is strongly preferred.
Experience with labeling and / or purifying synaptic complexes is a plus. Script writing and coding skills are also a plus but not required.
This position requires experience and willingness to work with mice.
