Are you ready to lead a program that transforms lives and shapes the future workforce? UVU's Excellence and Innovation Initiative (e2i) is seeking a Director who will provide visionary leadership and operational management for this growing program.
The e2i Director will oversee a dynamic program that connects hundreds of UVU students in all majors with paid, real-world projects, helping them gain the skills, experience, and professional networks needed to hit the ground running in their careers.
This role is pivotal in driving the growth of e2i by cultivating partnerships with local companies, nonprofits, and entrepreneurial ventures, ensuring that projects are aligned with industry needs and provide invaluable experiences for our students.
The Director will play a crucial role in shaping the program's direction, ensuring that e2i not only prepares students for the workforce but also helps them cement their future by working on projects that develop their talents and passions.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership and Program Growth : Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for UVU's e2i program, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and fostering large-scale growth.
- Lead efforts to secure financial sustainability through fundraising, including corporate sponsorships, grant proposals, legislative requests, and private donations.
- Drive the expansion of e2i by developing new partnerships, enhancing program offerings, and scaling operations to increase impact.
- Collaborate with UVU departments to facilitate cross-disciplinary projects, maximizing the impact of e2i initiatives and contributing to the broader mission of the Innovation Academy.
- Operational Oversight and Systems Management : Collaborate with academic departments to recruit, train, and vet students for project placement, engage faculty as mentors, and integrate e2i programming into curriculum.
- Implement and manage systems to ensure efficient project operations, quality of deliverables, and a positive experience for students and project owners.
- Conduct real-time monitoring to troubleshoot issues and continuously improve program processes and outcomes, ensuring seamless project execution.
- Lead the collection and analysis of key performance data and project artifacts to effectively showcase the achievement of program metrics and objectives.
- Lead a large team of e2i students, faculty mentors, and other supportive units, fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment focused on student success and project excellence.
- Corporate and External Partnership Development : Help develop and execute strategies that proactively seek out and secure corporate-funded projects that provide hands-on experiences for students while delivering real-world business solutions.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate partners, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to align e2i projects with industry and community needs.
- Run UVU's programming for Stanford's University Innovation Fellows (UIF) and Faculty Innovation Fellows (FIF), ensuring strong collaboration and engagement.
- Marketing, Outreach, and Program Promotion : Actively promote the e2i program both within UVU and to external stakeholders through presentations, marketing campaigns, and outreach efforts.
- Work with UVU's marketing team to increase program visibility, highlight student successes, and showcase the generational impact of e2i on students and their families.
- Contribute to fundraising initiatives.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution plus at least three years of related experience; OR any combination of education and experience totaling 7 years.
- Professional experience in project-based learning, experiential education.
- Experience in managing teams or operations.
- Experience in developing and maintaining corporate partnerships or working with external stakeholders (e.g., nonprofit, public, or private sectors).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong leadership experience with a focus on managing operational processes, systems, and continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching individuals and teams, preferably in an educational setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, and industry partners.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Strong understanding of operational processes and systems management to ensure that project managers can successfully execute their projects.
- Knowledge of project-based learning models in higher education and how to integrate these experiences into student development and curriculum.
- Familiarity with building and maintaining corporate partnerships to support experiential learning projects.
- Understanding of team leadership and organizational dynamics, particularly managing teams of project managers who oversee individual projects.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee and support a team of project managers to ensure they can effectively manage their projects.
- Process optimization and systems improvement skills to continuously refine operational workflows and enhance the efficiency and success of the program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with a variety of stakeholders, including corporate partners, faculty, project managers, and students.
- Strategic problem-solving skills, particularly in managing complex, evolving systems and addressing issues that impact project execution and participant experience.
- Relationship-building skills, with a focus on developing and sustaining corporate partnerships that provide meaningful project opportunities for students.
- Ability to oversee and refine operational processes, ensuring that project managers are equipped with the tools, resources, and systems needed for successful project management.
