JOB SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the 'Executive Vice President, Head of Social Impact and Equity' and the 'Vice President of Social Impact and Equity', the Manager, Social Impact and Equity will support the integration of the Rock Entertainment Group’s (REG) Social Justice (SJ) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan, including oversight of the day-to-day internal DEI internal operations.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing our Social Impact / DEI / SJ events, co-leading our community outreach / engagement activities, oversight of our Team Member Resource Groups and IDEAL Team.
This is an onsite position that will require a flexible schedule, as this role will support occasional game night activations (Cavs, Monsters & Charge) as well as supporting internal and external events and fundraisers occuring in the evenings, weekends and occasional Holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Social Justice / DEI :
- Works in collaboration with EVP / VP SIE to operationalize the SJ / DEI strategic plan throughout the organization.
- Supports the companies IDEAL Team.
- Directs the development, implementation, and growth of the Team Member Resource Groups across organization.
- Works in collaboration with marketing & communication to develop and execute the SJ / DEI internal and external communication strategy.
- Collaborates with EVP / VP SIE and other internal stakeholders and / or community partners as needed for special projects.
- Work with teams across the company as needed to support and advance DE / SJ practices, policies, and initiatives.
Community Engagement :
- Serves as a conduit between REG and key community and civic groups.
- Maintains awareness of local social, community, and civic landscape and impacts in relation to the REG and helps the organization plan, react, and interact positively in relation to that landscape.
- Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization, by engaging the community and relaying our outreach efforts.
- Build connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission.
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in community organization meetings.
Events :
Helps create, oversee and lead Social Justice & DEI events (e.g., Taste of Black Cleveland, ERG Summit, etc.).
People Responsibility :
Initially there are no direct reports, but there is potential to manage a seasonal assistant or others in the future.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
- Minimum 2+ years of direct DEI and / or social justice leadership experience.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to support games and events occuring on weeknights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Experience creating and / or overseeing team member resource groups, (AKA. "employee resource groups") is desired.
- Event planning experience is desired.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- A strong sense of professionalism.
