Job Description
Summary / objective
The Personal Training Director is responsible for leading all club personal training efforts, coaching and supervising Trainers to meet or exceed company standards and revenue goals through leading by example.

Client Acquisition & Retention - 40%
- Develop strong relationships with membership / sales and marketing teams
- Collaborate with membership / sales to disseminate new client leads to appropriate trainers in a timely manner
- Follow up with clients who possess unused training sessions prior to expiry
- Track and report on team’s closure rates on new client leads
- Support and handle member opportunities & issues quickly, professionally, and in accordance with company policies
Staff Development - 40%
- Create and implement a process for the ongoing recruitment of a personal training team
- Develop a robust on-boarding and mentoring program for new trainers
- Establish and implement sales training for the personal training team
- Conduct bi-monthly Trainer Development Meetings in person
- Monitor trainer’s productivity, provide constructive feedback and coaching in real-time or through one / one meetings
- Conduct periodic and annual performance evaluations of all personal trainers
- Keep team and members informed of events and activities and encourage participation
- Provide strong leadership to the team by communicating effectively and leading by example for all team members to see
- Create and foster a team culture, centered on achieving goals with high level of customer service
Training & Administration - 20%
- Maintain ongoing physical presence on the fitness floor
- Program and facilitate personal training for a primary roster not to exceed 12 hours per week
- Establish revenue goals with GM and VP of Fitness
- Meet or exceed departmental revenue goals
- Monitor revenue production by team and trainer on a daily basis
- Operate within budget guidelines for purchasing supplies, operational costs, pricing outside vendors and contractors
- Work alongside the Club General Manager and Group Ex Director to ensure cohesiveness in the club
- Act as a leader and resource to not only the PT team but to all acac teams within the facility. This may also require assigned Manager on Duty (MOD) shifts within your administrative time.
- Process bi-monthly payroll and supply appropriate reports to required teams
Requirements
Required competencies, education, and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Exercise Science or Kinesiology; High School Diploma required
- Three years of personal training experience
- Must possess and maintain a current NOCA-NCCA accredited organization certification
- Must possess and maintain a current CPR certification
- Demonstrate initiative to remain current on fitness industry skills and topics
- In-depth knowledge of fitness programming design and implementation
- Prior experience leading and managing in a fitness and sales environment
- Superior customer service skills
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate a friendly, enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Utilize social media to promote personal training services
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Excellent computer skills
- Passion for fitness
Physical demands
- Must be able to stand, move, walk, and bend for the duration of a shift
- Must have full range of motion in order to properly demonstrate exercises or use of machines
- Must have the ability and willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
