WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Manager Regulatory Accounting manages regulatory accounting responsibilities for Peoples Gas System and plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and maintaining accurate financial records.
This position works with minimal direction in providing leadership through regulatory efforts, training initiatives and accounting guidance.
This requires staying up to date with industry regulations and ensuring that the organization adheres to them.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities :
- Facilitate regulatory objectives through the management of cost recovery clauses, annual clause audit coordination, interrogatory responses, rate case responsibilities, depreciation studies and other rate / recovery assignments.
- Support rate case activity as needed, including MFRs.
- Manage the delivery of actual, budget and forecasted clause accounting information for use in business planning models and surveillance reports.
- Manage the delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual clause reporting for the FPSC, Internal and External Auditors.
- Manage and review the completion of the forecasted and actual statement of plant, and other regulatory plant accounting functions.
- Work closely with Tampa Electric Regulatory Accounting and Regulatory Plant Accounting in maintaining and improving the use of applicable systems (such as Allegro and Powerplan) and the processes that make the systems effective and efficient.
What We’re Looking For
Must Haves :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from a regionally accredited university or college.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience. Related experience includes regulated utility accounting and financial system acumen.
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, regulatory FERC accounting, Microsoft Office and proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Self-motivated and detail oriented with advanced analytical and organizational skills
- Works autonomously and performs well in a deadline driven environment.
- The ability to professionally engage with senior leadership and internal / external constituents on a frequent basis.
- Demonstrates exceptional judgement and uses best practices to improve processes; resolves complex problems or where precedent does not exist.
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding other accountants and analysts within the department.
Nice-to-Haves :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant license or the pursuit of a CPA license
- Experience with SAP ERP and Allegro (ETRM)
- 2 years of managerial experience
- Proficiency with software / systems such as SAP, BPC / EPM, PowerPlan and Allegro.
- General knowledge of gas or electric utility operations, utility accounting and regulatory practices preferred
