This is a "HYBRID" position. Corporate headquarters is in Virginia.

SUMMARY

The Associate Director, IT Operations is focused on (a) providing technology infrastructure engineering and technical leadership and oversight, (b) managing team members that offer front-line of service to the business users of IT, including requests for IT service and support, (c) working with various department leaders to identify and ensure the progress on strategic and tactical projects, (d) focusing on the continuous improvement of the IT functions, (e) driving consistency in the application of IT processes and management systems, and (f) leading and developing a high-performance team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Engineering and Operations

Provide infrastructure architecture, technical leadership and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the IT Operations department and ensure NACD’s systems and networks are secure, reliable, and available.

This includes management of local and wide area networks, Azure cloud services, servers, data stores, firewalls, switches, user workstations, software licensing / subscriptions, Asset Management, and vendor contracts.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to improve IT operations and increase security, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Ensure that the organization's IT policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with industry standards and company regulations.
  • Develop processes to ensure reliability, availability and recoverability of IT data and systems in accordance with SLAs including in times of security incident and / or disaster.

End User Support

  • Implement best practices for incident management, problem resolution, and escalation procedures to minimize service disruptions and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain an effective end user IT training program for standard hardware, productivity applications and conference facilities.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining high standards for incident resolution, user support, and overall client satisfaction, while continuously seeking feedback and areas for improvement.

Cybersecurity / Information Security

  • Work closely with information security team and lead efforts to secure external edges of NACD’s network and internal hardware, software, and data architecture, including compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Proactively understand Threats and Vulnerabilities and develop strategies to defend.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies based on defined needs, enhanced functions, and cost effectiveness.

Leadership

  • Lead and inspire the IT Operations team by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development by identifying skill gaps, organizing training programs, and supporting team members in keeping skills relevant.
  • Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Director of IT Operations and Solutions Delivery in their absence, ensuring seamless department operations and continuity of leadership.
  • Foster cross-team collaboration by working closely with other department leaders to align strategies, share insights, and drive cohesive efforts towards common organizational goals.

Budget and Vendor Management

  • Manage technology vendors and service providers to ensure that the NACD's technology needs are met.
  • Hold vendor and partners accountable to deliver quality within specified SLAs.
  • Develop and manage the annual IT Operations budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maintaining a focus on cost optimization and financial accountability.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science or commensurate security-sensitive technical and management experience is required.

Must have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience leading teams in designing, monitoring, managing and securing IT infrastructure that is primarily comprised of Windows and Cisco devices, enterprise Ethernet, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and IP addressing;

managing Microsoft Azure and VMware vSphere is required; 5-7 years of experience overseeing an IT Operations function; knowledge of Windows servers / workstations, anti-virus, monitoring and managing network and systems security.

Must have 3-5 years of experience managing complex IT operations budget and vendor contracts. Must have experience proving oversight and leading a team responsible for designing, implementing and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions.

Must have excellent communication skills and experience effectively communicating with technical and non-technical audiences, as well as demonstrated efficient and effective use of problem solving and task prioritization techniques to solve complex challenges.

Must be able to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal. Must possess an ability to work well with others as well as independently, with extreme attention to detail.

Experience managing others is required.

NACD employees are required to be fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus by their first day of employment. An employee is fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their second dose of a two-dose vaccination series or two weeks after the first shot of a single-dose vaccine (or as described by the vaccine manufacturer).

The salary / hourly range for this position is $175,000-$180,000 plus bonus potential. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
