Position description

The School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and part-time lecturer positions to teach the following courses in Computer Science & Engineering for Academic Year 2024-2025 :

  • CSE 005 Introduction to Computer Applications
  • CSE 015 Discrete Mathematics
  • CSE 019 Introduction to Computing
  • CSE 022 Introduction to Programming
  • CSE 024 Advanced Programming
  • CSE 031 Computer Organization
  • CSE 100 Algorithm Design and Analysis
  • CSE 108 Full Stack Web Development
  • CSE 165 Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming
  • CSE 170 Computer Graphics
  • CSE 171 Game Programming

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding regular posted office hours (minimum 2 hours / week), and evaluating student work and exams, and calculating and posting grades.

The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant, reader, or remedial tutor.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers.

Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement. See the following url for additional information :

Appointments for AY 2024 / 2025 and / or Fall 2024 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2025 semester are reviewed in October.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in Computer Science & Engineering or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level are required.

Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
