Responsibilities*
Research and Analysis (70%)
- Maintain mouse colony. This includes working hands-on with mice to perform genotyping, breeding / weaning, tumor monitoring, and maintaining an up-to-date census. (50%)
- Participate in and analyze cell and molecular biology experiments related to the lab's research interests, including tissue culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing, DNA / RNA / Protein extractions, Western Blots, microscopy, cell / tissue processing and microscopy, cloning (Gibson and restriction enzyme based.
This includes taking primary responsibility for some experiments and parts of larger projects. (20%)
Lab Support (30%)
- Order supplies and maintain the budget line items. (10%)
- Ensure our lab is operating effectively. (5%)
- Oversee equipment purchases, repairs, and maintenance. (3%)
- Comply with lab safety protocols. (3%)
- Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students for work with mice. (3%)
- Perform administrative work. (3%)
- Participate in the preparation of research proposals and manuscripts for publication. (3%)
Required Qualifications*
A bachelor's degree in a related field and 1-2 years of experience
