Responsibilities :
- Produce stories that are driven by people who need help with their consumer problems
- Develop, research, and vet story ideas that lead to impactful stories
- Establish and maintain sources
- Write and produce short- and long-term stories for broadcast and web
- Be able to manage multiple stories at various stages of development
- Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas
Requirements :
- Strong visual storyteller with a track record of producing impactful investigations
- Team player who values collaboration
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Clear understanding of journalistic principles and ethics
- Knowledge and respect of the law (libel, slander, copyright, public records, etc.)
- Social media proficiency
- BA / BS in journalism, communications, or related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience, investigative and / or consumer reporting preferred
- Understanding of the ethics and tenants of professional journalism
- Ability to produce stories that are engaging and memorable
- Knowledge of multiplatform news gathering tools and resources
- Flexibility with schedule, reliability, and dependability
