Director of Enrollment and Communications
Friends School Mullica Hill, a Quaker day school serving 173 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade, seeks a dynamic and experienced education professional to serve as Director of Enrollment and Communications, to begin on or before August 1, 2024.
The Director of Enrollment and Communications reports directly to the Head of School, is a member of the administrative team, and plays a leadership role in carrying out the school’s mission and strategic vision.
The Director oversees all aspects of recruitment, admissions, enrollment, re-enrollment, and tuition assistance, and oversees all aspects of communications.
This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position.
Responsibilities Include :
Enrollment
- Develop and carry out comprehensive strategic and tactical plans to achieve the school’s annual and long-range enrollment objectives and financial goals.
- Promote Friends School Mullica Hill in the community.
- Act as the primary contact for all families who express an interest in Friends School Mullica Hill.
- Conduct the admissions process for all prospective students and families, including but not limited to inquiry follow-up, parent meetings, tours, records collection, student visits and screenings, admissions committee reviews, and communicating admissions decisions to families.
- Organize admissions-related events including orientation for new families.
- Manage the tuition assistance, merit grant, and Quaker grant processes. Provide support to families with inquiries, questions, and appeals.
- Serve as a bridge as families integrate into the school community to create a cooperative relationship that increases family engagement in the life of the school.
- Work closely with colleagues and attend occasional PLC meetings to monitor student progress and school-family relationships to promote student retention.
- Record enrollment data consistently and report at administrative, faculty, and board meetings. Complete all required NAIS (DASL), NJAIS, and FCE statistical surveys.
- Attend appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Network with other enrollment and education professionals.
- Visit feeder schools and competing schools.
Communications
- Plan and implement overall strategies for all marketing and communication on behalf of the school in order to enhance the school’s visibility and public perception, and articulate clear messaging to internal and external constituencies.
- Coordinate all advertising, publicity, and public relations.
- Plan for and oversee all digital activities, including managing and updating the website; producing and distributing the weekly bulletin;
editing the monthly curriculum newsletters; managing social media; and producing digital content.
- Create, edit, and publish a magazine for the school community.
- Write and distribute press releases, and develop and nurture relationships with key media contacts.
- Oversee the work of graphic designers and print vendors in the production of printed materials and web visuals.
- Photograph classroom and school-wide events and activities, and maintain the photo library.
- Implement print and online advertising schedules.
- Create video and other multimedia content.
Leadership
- Advance the school’s mission and vision.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of School, administrative team, lead teachers, and faculty and staff in implementing plans and policies established by the Board of Trustees and Head of School in accordance with the strategic vision.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of School to create a safe and healthy culture and sense of community to ensure an environment in which learning can take place.
- Assist in the planning and execution of school events.
- Build strong relationships with faculty and staff to support and assist them in carrying out the school’s mission and vision.
- Provide counsel and support to the Head of School on matters related to the operation and life of the school.
- Work closely with the Head of School on other tasks as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will :
- Hold a bachelor’s or higher degree.
- Have significant relevant experience in a school setting, including academic leadership and / or classroom teaching.
- Have a collaborative leadership style and work closely with the administrative team, faculty, and staff.
- Be an effective administrator who plans well, takes initiative, effectively manages day to day operations, and follows through with objectives.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both written and orally.
- Relevant experience in communications and marketing or a related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology for communication purposes
- Demonstrate warmth, high energy, flexibility, a sense of humor, and enthusiasm for all aspects of school life.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for working in a small Quaker school with a diverse population.
