Principal Objectives / Purpose

The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency.

The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment.

Every member of the team is charged to build relationships and trust with youth and young adults to maintain relationships that foster them continuing in their planned services.

Our team also serves as an integral component with connecting to our community and spreading / demonstrating the mission of ACYR.

The School Social Work Manager (Social Support Manager) serves the student whose social, emotional and / or family problems interfere with their capacity to function adequately within an educational environment.

The Social Worker professionally assesses the problem(s) in order to provide and refer for interventions that help eliminate barriers to learning.

Interventions may include the school, family, and / or community resources. This professional relationship is dependent upon its confidential nature and may consist of initial assessment interviews, consultation with staff and family, supportive counselling, crisis intervention, community referrals and / or school based support groups.

The School Social Work Manager (Social Support Manager) makes a significant impact on student's lives through working with them directly and supervising the social worker interns and maintains relationships with other community referral partners.

As a key member of our support team, they partner with school administration, teachers, success coaches and leaders to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for youth / students throughout the course of their participation.

Key Result Areas

  • Provides information and acts as a liaison between the School, Community, and families including, but not limited to, counseling referrals, home visits and access to community resources to assist youth and students with functioning effectively in an education environment.
  • Providing connections to resources and services to assist youth and students with resolving barriers and issues.
  • Maintains a robust internship program for Masters of Social Work students
  • Participate in, develop, coordinate, and implement trainings to lead the provision of positive youth development practices with all youth / students.
  • Manages ACYR's SNAP CAN program

Required Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree is required with a major in Social Work and 2 years of work experience since receiving Master's Degree.
  • Ability to maintain Arizona State University School of Social Work Field Instructor certification.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exemplify leadership and composure under pressure, while maintaining high morale.
  • Experience in the fields of youth development, education, and workforce development is highly desirable.
  • Understands and utilizes positive youth development practices in all levels of work.
  • Prior experience in public speaking, facilitation and good presentation skills, required
  • Must be able to form strong connections with other people and have an understanding of and a compassion for the lives of low income families

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working with opportunity youth
  • Experience working with at risk youth a plus.
  • Bi-lingual / bi-cultural.

Background Check

Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and / or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent.

The background check will consist of a reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search.

ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check.

Certification / Licenses / Other Requirements

Valid Arizona Level II Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business.

Physical Demands

Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Ability to interact with students during activities also required.
