If you are looking to build a strong career, we have an opportunity for you! We are searching for a Senior Operations Accountant to join our team located at our headquarters in Lake Forest, IL.
Your Role :
The Senior Operations Accountant is responsible for preparing month-end journal entries, reconciliations and reports, as well as completing and reviewing account reconciliations.

You will have the opportunity to :
- Prepare reports related to costs, inventory, net realizable value, and ad hoc reports.
- Identify, lead, and execute continuous improvement initiatives to ensure close process efficiency, including potential use of bots, use of system enablers (HFM), etc.
- Partner with controllers and BU finance leaders to drive monthly close, as well as analyze monthly costing trends to provide a projected month end result.
- Provide information to internal and external auditor requests.
- Participate in or lead cross-functional teams on small to medium special projects.
- Exercises professional judgment in making frequent, appropriate recommendations for new accounts, revisions in the account structure, new types of ledgers, revisions in the reporting system or subsidiary records, changes in instructions regarding the use of accounts, new or refined account classifications or definitions, etc.
- Makes day-to-day decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions and recommends solutions to complex problems beyond incumbent's scope of responsibility.
- Understands and designs very complex accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
- May train and develop other accountants.
- Typically provides and coordinates separate or specialized accounting treatment and reporting (e.g., cost accounting using standard cost, process cost, and financial statements & reports) for different internal operations or divisions.
Ultimately, you will be responsible for reviewing the balance sheet of facilities to ensure accuracy of underlying data and analyze inventory accounts and prepare related reporting for senior management.

We need you to have :
- BA / BS degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of related professional Accounting experience with journal entries.
- Experience with large automated financial systems such as SAP or JDE.
- Proficient in MS Office with high proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
- Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
- High level of attention to detail; problem solving abilities.
- Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
- Exercise sound judgment with the ability to take calculated risks and make risk / return recommendations.
- Ability to be discreet with confidential information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
- Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
Icing on the cake :
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- CPA Certification.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in the CPG industry.
