Summary :
The Accounting Associate-Cash Receipts / Payroll will provide financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Compile and sort all cash receipt payments, substantiating business transactions.
Compute and record departmental sales and refunds. Compile and enter payroll data, post wages, and maintain payroll records.
Compile payroll hours worked, taxes, insurance and union dues to be withheld from time sheets and other records. Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
Record changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records.
Prorate changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and expenses to each department for cost accounting records.
Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions. Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
Essential Job Functions :
- Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles and techniques
- Knowledge of general procedures related to cash receipts and payroll
- Knowledge to interpret current union contract
- Ability to maintain a variety of financial records and files
- Ability to perform varied accounting clerical work
- Ability to accurately tabulate, record and balance assigned transactions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those
- contacted in the course of work
- Establish and maintain files and records for CR / PR; ensures accuracy of payments
- Research Cash Receipt and Payroll discrepancies; identifying and resolving problems
- throughout all organizational levels
- Prepare and enter miscellaneous Cash Receipts journal entries
- Prepare Hourly and Salary payrolls
- Prepare Payroll journal entries
- Provides special projects and detail analysis as needed
- Perform backup duties for Accounts Payable and Receiving
- Maintain accruals associated with Payroll
- Assists in Park Wide Emergency Response Team functions on a rotational basis

Requirements :
The candidate for this position is required to have an Associate Degree in Accounting or other Business Related Field preferred with 3-5 years experience in Cash Receipts and Payroll.
