Manager, Production

Role description :

The Production Manager is responsible for directing forming, mold repair, and machine repair departments to obtain optimum performances in safety, quality, and performance efficiencies at the lowest operating cost.

Responsibilities :

• Ensure the manufacturing of glass containers are within customer specifications and quality standards.
• Select and develop employees to adequately staff the forming department which includes salary administration, effective employee and union relations, developmental and training opportunities, and succession planning.
• Manage departmental budgets including time, labor, and spending costs.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment always striving for zero accidents.
• Monitor department performances and report on negative impacted areas while developing and implementing continuous improvement.
• Comply with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies within the department.

Minimum skills / qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Twelve (12) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience.
• Prior experience with mold repair, machine repair, and job changes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficient organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-risk work environment.
• Ability to work outside of regular work hours.
• Ability to prioritize work and have a sense of urgency.
• Ability to travel up to 5%.

Preferred skills / qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Fifteen (15) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience.
• Prior experience with the plant's forming process (i.e. press, blow-and-blow, etc.).
