Job Purpose

The C-Store Assistant Manager will provide support to the C-store, its employees and to the Store Manager. These positions will perform all cashier functions including customer service activities, proper cash-handling, stocking duties, and maintaining store cleanliness.

Additionally, this position will be trained in a main function to support HR, Sales and Marketing, or Operations functions more specifically.

General Store Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greeting guest with a smile while providing a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service
  • Able to collaborate with diverse teams and customer personalities.
  • Operate cash registers, scanners, and handle transactions quickly and accurately.
  • Assisting customers with use of self-service kiosks as needed
  • Ensures all funds are processed accurately whether cash or credit.
  • Manages customer complaints as they pertain to store, gas, or car wash sales.
  • Answering phones as needed
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Promoting customer loyalty plans including Club Holiday, Car Wash Subscriptions and special promotional events
  • Cross-selling and upselling products.
  • Assisting fellow cashiers with store activities
  • Stocking, cleaning and other duties as directed by store direction or assistant manager.
  • Providing advice or recommendations after understanding customer needs
  • Managing high volumes transactions daily
  • Ensuring correct pricing, issuing receipts, refunds or exchanges

Skills and Education Requirements

  • Must be able to speak and understand English. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Training experience preferred
  • Retail experience desired
  • Must be able to open and close store across Sunday through Saturday schedule
  • MVR with good driving record required if driving for store
  • Previous experience in customer service preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic equipment, like cash register and POS
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to manage skills and work with the team to accomplish tasks.
  • Customer and Employee-focused
  • Ability to learn about and train products available in stores
  • Ability to maintain composure in the face of angry, frustrated, or flustered customers.
  • Ability to adjust schedule, task and priorities as needed to assist with business needs
