Overview

The City of Irvine seeks collaborative and innovative individuals to take a key customer service role in the development of Irvine’s new, locally operated, and world‑class public library system. The Part‑time Library Associate I, under direct supervision, performs a variety of library clerical, technical, and customer service tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist library customers in the use of library services and technology; perform lending services functions, such as checking in / out materials, and registering new patron accounts.
• Handle money for fees or other purposes.
• Assist with interpreting library policies and procedures for customers; maintain confidentiality of customer records.
• Respond to customers regarding general and routine directional inquiries and refer customers to appropriate resources and staff.
• Assist with collection maintenance as directed.
• Assist with the supervision of facility rentals and enforce rules applicable to that reservation.
• Hours may include evenings and weekends.
