REPORTS TO : Assistant Finance Officer

OVERVIEW : Johnston County Schools is a rapidly growing public school district located southeast of Raleigh. We educate over 38, students at 48 schools with an annual budget that exceeds $M.

We seek a highly motivated individual to join our Finance Department as a Finance Specialist.

The School Treasurer Trainer will be expected to complete the NCASBO Treasurer Academy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Schedule Finance Boot Camp for all newly hired school treasurers and departmental bookkeepers on all financial policies, procedures, and softwares.
• Create and maintain finance training guides and resources.
• Initiate and ensure ongoing training for all new hires post boot camp.
• Provide personalized training / assistance for all school treasurers / departmental bookkeepers on areas needed.
• Assist all school treasurers / departmental bookkeepers on a daily basis via phone and email.
• Serve as the primary point of contact / liaison between school treasurers / departmental bookkeepers and the central finance department.
• Meet with principals / directors to establish a transition plan during any treasurer / bookkeeper vacancy.
• Process financial transactions during any school treasurer / departmental bookkeeper vacancy or extended absence. (This could consist of multiple schools / departments simultaneously.)
• Participate in in-person and virtual finance meetings.
• Primary point of contact for setting up all school and district online payment fees.
• Maintain supply inventory / requests and process requisitions for all finance department orders.
• Serve as Simpson Building Receptionist backup for finance department timeframes.
• Make all central level cash deposits.
• Assist with school year-end closeout.
• Assist with annual year-end school financial monitoring reviews.
• Assist with internal and external reporting as needed.
• Cross train with other staff as needed.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

ACCEPTABLE KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE :

• Five years experience in a finance related field (accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget, and payroll).
• Experience in finance training and presentations.
• School treasurer or school district finance department experience preferred.
• Associates Degree, or equivalent, with some coursework completed in accounting is preferred.
• Experience with LINQ, SchoolFunds and / or Cook Spreadsheets a plus.
• Intermediate knowledge of Excel, including basic formulas and pivot tables.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Annual Pay range of $3, to $4, per month depending upon relevant experience and education
