I. JOB SUMMARY
Under the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Fundraising Officer supports all activities within the Development Department, primarily focused on implementing grassroots marketing to increase awareness, including developing the annual marketing plan, all in an effort to help MCHS Family of Services achieve optimal fund development operations and positioning of the organization.
The person in this position will be comfortable working with all levels of internal management and staff, clients, and vendors.
II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop a fundraising action plan.
- Identify and suggest fundraising opportunities.
- Plan, facilitate and implement donor / volunteer-based activities for our clients.
- In conjunction with the finance department, record keeping relating to fundraising funds.
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and implementation of fund development, fund sustainability activities, community outreach strategies and activities and volunteer engagement activities.
- Develop, cultivate, and maintain close contacts with individual volunteers and volunteer groups, donors, prospective donors, and vendors.
- Build rapport and positive working relationships with MCHS programs and operations staff in support of ongoing donor and volunteer efforts for our clients.
- Provide monthly updates to the committee regarding fundraising duties and events.
III. BASIC COMPETENCIES
Education and Experience
The Fundraising Officer will be an experienced professional with an array of nonprofit experience, primarily in fundraising, special events and event organizing.
The Fundraising Officer will be outgoing and motivated to engage the community and extend MCHS’s mission and vision to donors, volunteers, community partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least two (2) years of experience in marketing and / or fundraising, or
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred with at least one (1) year of experience in fundraising and / or nonprofit development.
- Must meet the State’s Moral Character standard.
