Great! We’re looking for top talent to grow with our firm. Responsibilities What you'll be challenged to do : The TranSystems’ Philadelphia area offices have an immediate opening for a Bridge Engineer / Inspector with a focus on bridge inspection.
This position is open to entry level engineers up through 6 years of experience. This position includes structural design, rehabilitation, and inspection of bridges along with the preparation of load ratings, construction documents, specifications, and estimates.
In addition, duties may include construction inspection services. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by current staff Project Managers and Project Engineers.
Assignments may involve travel within the continental United States. Primary Responsibilities (others may be included) : Bridge inspection assignments as an Inspection Team Member and prepare bridge inspection reports documenting inspection findings Bridge Design assignments involving contract plans preparation and specifications requiring quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets and schedules Developing and analyzing design options Maintaining organized design calculation and project data Performing load ratings analysis Calculation of quantities and development of cost estimates Office support for construction support services Work with contractor or other consultants to develop demolition and erection plans, temporary sheeting, cofferdam designs, and temporary supports Review shop drawing submittals.
Organize submittals and address questions from contractors during the construction phases of structures Qualifications What you bring to our firm : Bachelor’s degree in civil and / or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college.
Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam is strongly encouraged. Team oriented engineer and strong communicator with ability to work concurrently within multiple project demands and transitioning priorities.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.). Able and willing to travel within the continental United States.
Physically capable of performing field work including working at heights, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm : Master degree in civil / structural engineering Experience with Bentley MicroStation and / or AutoCAD Experience in new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, and / or inspection of bridges.
Experience with common commercial structural software. No relocation assistance - Local candidates preferred. Completion of the following : NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (FHWA-NHI-130055) and / or PennDOT’s Certified Bridge Safety Inspector Course with up-to-date refresher courses.
Rope access experience or an interest in learning rope access techniques (SPRAT, IRATA). Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in PA.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (i.
e. Airport noise, inside factories, construction equipment, jack hammers, etc). Physical Requirement : The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk or hear, and drive a car.
The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
