Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead the Division of Cardiology’s oversight of its operations, faculty educational expectations, clinical productivity, and research, while fostering a culture of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Provide oversight of fiscal, administrative, and IT activities within the Division.
- Promote and advance excellence in education, research, and clinical collaborations across the institution and community.
- Advance and promote the Division’s program and its faculty.
- Collaboratively formulate and implement the Division’s strategic plans and initiatives.
- Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Evaluate and manage medical patients and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a high-quality clinical learning environment.
- May serve as Division Chief for Cardiology.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Assistant Professor :
- MD degree or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and / or American Board of Medical Specialties in Cardiology.
- Current Hawai i Medical license by date of hire.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, written and spoken.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Associate Professor :
Same as Assistant Professor plus :
- Minimum of four (4) years at the rank of Assistant Professor, four (4) years of other comparable medical experience, or minimum of one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another LCME-accredited medical school.
- Recognized expertise as a resource person in chosen field.
- Clear recognition as a scholar / clinician among peers at the local, regional, and / or national levels.
Desirable Qualifications :
- 5+ years of experience directly related to teaching, clinical, and research endeavors.
- Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain and manage extramural funding.
- Evidence of effective research, scholarly activity, or clinical administration.
- Basic Life Support and / or Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- Eligibility for clinical privileges at The Queen’s Health Systems.
