The Hired Guns are seeking a Senior Digital Writer-Editor whose dossier includes three or more years of experience writing or editing in some sphere of the health or medical space.

You’ll be joining the close-knit, well-organized content creation team of a leading hospital system that is widely hailed as an innovator in digital content.

We’re looking for a talented digital content pro who has strong leadership skills and a desire to expand their responsibilities over time and grow in their career.

How you’ll know if you’re a fit

You have a great shot at joining this team if you bring an impressive track record of writing and editing digital content (websites, e-newsletters, apps, social media), including at least three years’ editorial experience at a hospital, academic medical center, healthcare organization, digital agency, or science-focused media outlet.

You’re highly organized and able to function effectively within a well-established process, but you’re also always on the lookout for better ways to do things and are effective in proposing and implementing your ideas.

An ability to distill complex medical scenarios into engaging patient-facing copy is a must. It’s a plus if you have a medical specialty you’ve become a subject-matter expert in : let us know about it!

Many kinds of experience could be valuable here, but some journalism background is a big plus : a major part of this job is going out and getting the story by interacting with people on the front lines of research and patient care.

An outgoing and confident attitude is a must-have, as is the ability to perform optimally in a fast-paced environment and cheerfully roll with it when priorities suddenly change.

Finally, you have a solid understanding of web content organization and navigation as well as SEO. And you have ambitions to manage people and grow your career in the direction of editorial leadership.
