Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Athletics Department is recruiting for the two positions as the Graduate Assistant Facilities Operations, Nevada Athletics.

This position will serve as a Graduate Assistant of Facilities Operations, in which the candidate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Facilities with all facilities and events needs across the athletic department.

The position assists with the planning, scheduling, payroll and overall management of maintenance, custodial, technical, live event production and conversion services and staffing for all athletic events, concerts, and other conferences and conventions.

This position will have assigned venues that will be determined once a candidate is chosen and will be expected to be the day-to-day liaison for those sports, while assisting the Director of Facilities as needed.

Candidates will also assist the director serving and leading the student workers and interns. The candidate must be versed in communication skills, resolution abilities, and having a leadership mentality.

Incumbent must be able to work within tight deadlines

Responsibilities

Monitor planning and scheduling of all work requests either managed internally or submitted to Facilities Maintenance Services

Work closely with UNR Facilities Department to ensure all policies & processes are adhered to when initiating facility projects

Works closely with contracted vendors to provide services related to the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment

Plans and implements goals for improving conversion process for events, cleaning of venues and technical support.

Responds to coach, team and staff requests for assistance related to facility and game day needs.

This position may play a role in the supervision of student interns and workers

Preferred Qualifications

Candidate has 2- 3 years of experience working in athletics

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for an assistantship, student must be :

Enrolled at the University of Nevada or admitted to a degree-granting program and be in good academic standing.

Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0

Be continuously enrolled in at least 6 graduate level credits (600-700) throughout the duration of the assistantship

Motivate, negotiate, and lead teams

Set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities

Work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

Work long and varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Work independently and as a collaborative team member

Schedule

Expected hours to work per week : 20
