POSITION TITLE : Regional Assistant Director, Community Living
DIVISION : Community Living
SUPERVISOR : Regional Director of Residential Services
CLASSIFICATION : Exempt
PURPOSE :
To provide direct administration to staff working in Community Living Services. To oversee the development, training, and placement of staff in order to best meet the needs of our clients.
To oversee the integration and coordination of each person’s treatment program and ensure all Supported Living services are operating efficiently by following regulatory standards.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :
- Interview and hire Direct Support Professionals, as needed.
- Interview, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise Residential Team Managers and QIDP’s for Residential Services. Ensure that staff provide services based on the documentation requirements in 460 IAC, BDS, ISOH, and local and federal law.
- Monitor and document all Residential Team Managers and QIDP’s paid time off and leaves of absence.
- Audit and approve Residential Team Managers and QIDP’s time and mileage sheets to ensure that schedules are followed, and that time entered for time worked is accurate.
- Assist Residential Team Managers with disciplinary concerns and implementing required discipline for Direct Support Professionals.
- Ensure Residential Team Managers complete schedules and documentation.
- Oversee Residential Team Managers in all aspects of staff scheduling, including managing coverage when staff call offs or open shifts exist.
- Monitor that staff training requirements are met to meet the following standards : Medicaid, BDS, and Board of Health.
- Ensure that employee follow all departmental and agency policies as well as state and federal laws.
- Assist with the development and implementation of short and long-range programming including program evaluation systems.
Review and update systems as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between persons receiving services, families, staff, professionals, and the community.
- Safeguard persons receiving services and family’s human and civil rights.
- Maintain confidentiality of clients.
- Display patience in all situations involving clients. Speak in an even, positive, and personal tone of voice when conversing with clients.
- Appropriately respond to client behavior via verbal and / or physical intervention based on the needs of the client.
- Participate in annual and quarterly meetings for clients as needed.
- Participate and lead meetings with Residential Managers, Residential QIDP’s, all other agency QIDP’s, and Community Living administrative staff.
- Attend and actively participate in all monthly staff meetings for Direct Support Professionals and Lead Direct Support Professionals.
Be prepared to update staff on departmental changes, agency announcements, and upcoming events.
- Develop and participate in monthly staff advisory meetings.
- Develop and follow a group home site schedule to be present with direct care staff while in the homes.
- Work alongside Quality Assurance with Residential investigations, annual surveys, complaints, safety drills, and all client health and safety measures are being followed and documented.
- Ensure documentation of Residential Services is completed, including but not limited to daily notes, MAR, training plans, risk plans, and any other necessary documentation.
- Complete incident reports, including BDS, as needed. Provide any follow-up.
- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of industry related trends, concerns, and changes.
- Assist with Residential outcome measurement reports.
- Lead annual survey efforts and documentation.
- Audit house paperwork and client files.
- Work with QIDP’s to ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS :

- Must be able to care for the physical needs of the clients including feeding, hygiene, and toileting. Must be capable of assisting in physically transferring / moving clients when needed.
Physical activities may include but not be limited to : lifting up to 25-50 pounds, bending, stretching, grasping, visual acuity, walking, squatting, guiding, and transporting.
- Have a full understanding of Home Community Based Services and ensure standards are being followed throughout Supported Living Services.
- Have own transportation to / from meetings and events in and around the entire service area.
- Complete duties as delegated by the Director, Community Living Services.
- Comply with standards of DSI, APSE, BDDS, CARF and other governing bodies.
- Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Participate in the on-call rotation. Provide direct care as needed.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of both.
- Must possess or be able to obtain CPR, NCI, and First Aid certification annually and perform as necessary.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
