Job Summary :
A private family seeks to hire an experienced Estate / Farm Manager to oversee the care of multiple compounds and facilities within 300 acres of private land.
The successful candidate must have experience managing numerous facets of various facilities within the Estate such as gardens, landscaping, woodlands, equestrian trails, and a very active horse farm.
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for the daily maintenance of all facilities within the properties
- Responsible for preventative maintenance on all property and equipment to maintain effectiveness.
- Supervising the day-to-day facilities operations, any renovations, and on-site projects
- Property repairing, HVAC systems, and groundskeeping duties
- Managing construction projects, building new roads, and irrigation systems
- General Handyman duties, basic electrical and plumbing work as needed
- Maintaining the landscape of the property
- Coordinating & managing the outside vendors and contractors
- Preparing the property for any guests or special events
- Managing and coordinating with staff
- Executing special requests, errands, and any other related duties as needed
- Upkeep and maintenance of stabling barns, and indoor riding arena, lunge rings, and horse walkers.
- Use, care, and understand agricultural tractor implements, tractors, seeders, plows, graders, etc.
- Knowledge of standard agricultural practices about the care of horses and other livestock
- Manage extensive woodlands, trails, and paths throughout the property, including a registered woodlands plan.
- Maintenance of paddle tennis courts
- Oversight and upkeep of indoor swimming pool
- Pond Management
- Must maintain and enhance the value of all properties while protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the Principal
Requirements :
- A minimum of 10 - 15 years in a similar role or related experience is required (including an understanding of all major construction trades).
- Knowledge of equestrian services and facilities management is a huge plus
- Experienced in turf management.
- Experience in forestry management
- Experience dealing with livestock
- An understanding of how to handle hazardous materials.
- Ability to operate power tools and machinery
- Knowledge of Northeast flowers, shrubs, trees, fauna and floral arrangements.
- Related background in understanding mechanical and engineering projects related various facilities
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers
- Adept in managing and supervising staff
- Prioritize executive tasks and multi-task effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office and Mac OSX and related programs
- Professional mindset and the utmost discretion
- Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Flexibility with hours and scheduling
- United States work authorization
- Valid Driver’s License
